Forbes magazine shows the most exotic brands of marijuana

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

The magazine Forbes is a well known finalcial magazine, and for this reason we were particularly surprised in reading this article. Saabira Chaudhuri explores a few famous cannabis strains, like Haze, Jack Herer, OG Kush, Sour Diesel and a few others. The characters of these plants are introduced in the way usually deserved to the famous wines. For once, no polemics on marijuana or drugs, just a descriptions of how the things are. And in this case, the reality is juicy and it smells and tastes delicious.  It seems that on the American market, these top strains have a price of 25-30 dollars per gram. Nice article btw.

Ron Paul: is our world going to change?

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

On the Ministry of Cannabis blog, we sometime speak about politic, but, of course, we don’t take the side. Today we wanna speak about mr.Ron Paul, and it’s difficult for us do not appreciate his ideas and his vision of the future. The american president is a weird figure outside US. Only 200 million people on the planet have the right to vote for him, but its influence in the life of every world’s citizen is greater than national government. For these reasons, we greet with respect the choice of mr Paul. Today we wanna link to an interview of him, when he speak about marijuana, medical and non medical, and freedom of choice in general. Now we expect that you win, mr Paul, and put all these beautiful words in practice.

Dutch government wants cannabis registered as medicine

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

A few days ago, the Dutch government has announced its decision to extend the cannabis’s availability in pharmacies by five years, so more scientific research will be possible. The sale of cannabis specifically as medicine is legal and managed by the governmet since 2003. The Ministry of Health control the production and the quality through a specifically created agency. Sources inside the ministry say that a Dutch company started working on developing a cannabis-based drug last year. Cannabis has at least 5000 years of use as medicine; it was used in China as herbal medicine. More recently, british queen Victoria used cannabis tincture for menstrual pains. Even the international treaties (Single Convention on Narcotics, New York, 1961 and its modifications) expressly authorize and promote the use of cannabis as medicine (and according to the treaties, this is the only use allowed).

THC may protect the brain from Alzheimer s

Monday, November 12th, 2007

The reserchers of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California says that from the results of their tests, it seems that the THC, the main active substance of marijuana and hashish, is efficient in blocking an enzyme in the brain that causes plaques to form. From this research it seems that the THC is many times more efficient than the drugs that are currently for  sale. “I’m not at all suggesting you smoke pot, but I think it could have strong implications that molecules like THC could prevent fibrils or plaque formation” Kim Janda, a professor of chemistry and immunology at Scripps. Doctor Janda is for sure an unbiased source, and he’s working on developing vaccines against nicotine and cocaine.

The researchers believe they’ve found a way THC can directly impact Alzheimer’s disease pathology. The tests have been made only in the test tube, but Janda and his team are ready to go one step further. “The definitive study would be to get animals that have been bred to have early-onset Alzheimer’s and look at the long-term effects of chronic THC administration” concludes Janda.

The biggest bullshit about marijuana that we have ever read

Friday, November 9th, 2007

This morning we were surprised to read this article. The are thousands or millions of bullshits and fake myths about cannabis and marijuana nowadays. But we couldn’t imagine that a group of supposed “scientists” arrive to this conclusion, that the genes that “The genes that make you prone to illegal drug abuse are different from those that cause dependence on legal substances like alcohol and nicotine”. Obviously, why we didn’t think about it before? The people that make laws do nothing else than reflecting what our bodies already knows, illegal drugs are bad! And politicians don’t care about the money that they receive by lobbies and corporations, they only care about our health.  Maybe they should explain to us what kind of substances they were using during these research, but not into the test tube, but on themselves!

Swiss research Finds Marijuana Use Alone May Benefit Some Teens

Thursday, November 8th, 2007

A recently published Swiss study is making a lot of noise for its content, that sounds revolutionnary: “Teens that use cannabis may function better than teen tobacco-users, and appear to be more socially driven and have fewer psychosocial problems than those who do not use either substance”. This statement is contained in the final report of this study that has involved 5.263 students, a  very large sample. 3105 of them didn’t use any drug, 455 of them smoke marijuana only and 1703 smoke marijuana mixed with tobacco. The report also says “…even though they are more likely to skip class, they have the same level of good grades; and although they have a worse relationship with their parents, they are not more likely to be depressed”.

Once again, a study shows evidence that marijuana is not a monster. The fact that american scientists have immediately started to scream while reading these results is pretty obvious. How can they justify 80 years of miserable failures in their stupid “war on drugs”?

Marijuana: lies, lies, lies and more lies

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Disinformation and misinformation are common word if used together with the words  cannabis or marijuana, but when we read this article we found difficult do not  laugh. A New Zeeland “expert” wrote:

“The analysis found that heavy cannabis users were also more likely to be violent, get involved in fights, ride in cars being driven dangerously, have unprotected sex, be clinically depressed and attempt suicide.”

Maybe this “doctor” have made just one mistake, replacing the word “alcohol” with “cannabis”. In every case, this people should be kicked out of every scientific community faster than lightspeed. Idiot!!!

Afghanistan: cannabis plants replace opium poppies

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

In Afghanistan, the northen province of  Balkh is pointed out as an example of success in eradicating the opium poppies. In this land, that is located between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, almost 30.000 acres of  land were full of opium poppies till 2 years ago. Then the decision to eradicate, and now, after 2 years, the province have been declared “poppies free” along with other 12. But this is not all the truth. How this result have been accomplished? The answer is really simple. Most farmers have simply switched crop, passing from the poppies to cannabis plants. Balkh province includes the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, famous in the past for the production of marijuana and hashish of the highest quality. many farmers that now grow cannabis, they say that is a going back to the traditions of their fathers and grandfathers, that decades ago grew the cannabis plant in these same places.

Italy, it’s not a crime to grow few ornamental cannabis plants

Monday, November 5th, 2007

The Court of Cassazione (Italian Supreme Court) has rejected every charge for a 57 years old man, accused of growing cannabis in his home. The decision of the Supreme Court is in accord with the two decisions of the lower tribunals, that have always recognized the man as not guilty. The man was catched growing a few cannabis plant in his bath tube. When the plants were big enough, the man sold them in a pot with even a little light attached. According to the accuse, every formof cannabis growing should be allowed. According to the judges instead, such little growing operations are legal, if the number of plant is little and if the purpose it’s not growing themto get marijuana.
